Classmate I'm Thankful For
In this joy bringing holiday season I would like to give thanks to the people who mean the most to me. My classmate Fredrick Cherry has shown an enthusiastic personality and active affection toward our class and the people assignments given to our class. He has a great sense of humor and is really creative. His open minded attitude has really made coming to class a lot more enjoyable. Thanks Fredrick Cherry for being an inspiration to us all.

An Account of Experience with Discrimination
When Sojourner Truth speaks of the "old slaveholding spirit" she is referring the the tendencies Americans were used to pre Emacipation Proclamation days. These tendencies were especially harsh toward African-Ameerican citizens. She is also referring to the social mistreatment that was experienced by African-Americans throughout the country, not just the ill-moral South, has history likes to state.
Primary documents have lessened bias to them. A second hand source has more bias than a primary source does. A primary document gives the first hand account of an experience or a historical event. Whatever that person saw heard or felt is recorded in a primary source. With such direct information a primary source is a lot less likely to include biases or misinterpretations than second hand sources are to.
University Days
Thurber was upset with himself and the University that he couldn't see through the microscope, and that he was unable to record whatever sight was lying beneath the microscope. The University was upset with Thurber's inability to complete the seemingly simple tasks assigned to him. Unbeknownst to Thurber or his professor at the time, Thurber was going blind. His deteriorating eyesight provided for his inability to see through the microscope. Thurber may have been unlikely to see a lot of things but blamed it on coincidence. He was know required, almost by force, to see something he would be unable to see regardless of the tools used.
These experiences certainly made Thurber more resourceful. His inability to do certain tasks made him more resourceful when it came to getting things done. For instance when Thurber realized that he was unlikely to pass his Physical Education class due to his inability to swim he found a way around that obstacle. Instead of accepting defeat, Thurber found a classmate that could swim for him. An identification number was the only form identity in his classes so just by the swapping of a piece of paper Thurber was able to change is identity and pass his Physical Education class.
